Maton EM225C Acoustic-Electric guitar - preloved - Superb Example!

Details

This is a superb example of the iconic Maton EM225C Acoustic-Electric guitar, hand made in the Maton Factory in Bayswater, Victoria.
The Australian-made Maton EM225C, first introduced in 1994 and widely regarded as the "workhorse" by gigging musicians the world over, remained in production for two decades. This iconic acoustic-electric cutaway, revered by those that owned one and highly desired by many more, was eventually discontinued in 2014.

This guitar has been in our family from new. The finish exhibits the light "soul marks" expected of a guitar of this vintage, while the overall condition can only be described as "superb". The natural satin nitrocellulose finish has taken a lovely honey coloured hue. The condition of the original pickguard confirms that this guitar was mainly played fingerstyle.
Our comprehensive Pro-SCM setup has been undertaken. You could expect to pay at least $250 for this work - it is of course included in our price.
The following work has been undertaken:- The frets: leveled, dressed, crowned, sanded smooth, fret ends hand rolled and then polished to a mirror finish
- The fretboard: cleaned, oiled and polished
- The nut: deburred and slots cut to optimise playing action
- The tuners: removed, cleaned, lubricated, polished and refitted
- The saddle: lowered and ramps cut behind the saddle slot to maximise the string break angle
- The bridge: cleaned, oiled and polished
- The strings: restrung with Thomastik Plectrum AC113s
- Truss Rod: adjusted as required
- Strap Pins: New Vintage style strap pins fitted, pin moved from back of heel to underside of heel
- Electronics: Cleaned and Serviced

With the release of the EM225, Maton set a new standard and a high bar for what could be expected from a hand made Australian guitar.
Our guitar features a solid Sitka Spruce top with Maton's proprietary scalloped X-bracing. The back and sides are made from laminated Queensland Maple. Multi-ply (or laminated) timber construction for the back and sides of an acoustic (or classical guitar) is embraced by some of the world's most revered luthiers including Australia's own Greg Smallman whose guitars sell for $65,000 and more.
This method of construction greatly increases the stability of the instrument and enhances the acoustic projection of the solid Sitka Spruce top delivering a clear, dynamic and responsive tone.

We are confident that this is the finest example of a Maton EM225C currently on offer and our Pro-SCM setup ensures that it plays better than it did when it first left the factory. Please call ahead to make an appointment to audition this fine guitar.
