The Essential Pro Series Guitars are a direct connection to HOHNER’s historical role in roots and blues music.

HOHNER were determined to produce a range of guitars that players would want to play so they teamed up with guitarists and HOHNER endorsees to develop an exceptional series of vintage-inspired guitars.

The resulting Essential Pro Series is made up of five models reminiscent of the smaller bodied guitars that defined the music of the 1920s and 30s.

This is the Parlor sized EP1-SP. This is HOHNER’s interpretation of the legendary Parlor sized acoustic guitars with the addition of modern features such as NVI (Non-Variance Intonation).

TRADITION and INNOVATION

The HOHNER EP1-SP Essential Pro Series Parlor size guitar uses proven, traditional tonewoods in its construction. The top is crafted from solid Canadian Sitka Spruce while the back, sides and neck are high quality Mahogany. This Essential Pro Series guitar features a micro-thin satin finish allowing the top to “breathe” and encouraging vibration.

The HOHNER EP1-SP Essential Pro Series Parlor size guitar is an exceptionally resonant instrument with a rich, singing tone and punchy lower register.

There is one kind of input that the folks in the HOHNER guitar line take real serious: Feedback (qualified feedback from guitarists, that is).

HOHNER’s guitar team worked with a dedicated team of performing artists to road test the new guitars. Among them were long-time HOHNER endorsers Eric Bazilian, John Lilley, Malcolm Arison and Steve Baker but also new endorsers like Eric Noden, Peter Crow C., Magda Piskorczyk, Tommy Williams and Gunnar Seitz.

They also looked outside the HOHNER family of artists. Around the time that “Booker’s Guitar” was released, the team took input from Eric Bibb.

Australian country guitarist Lawrie Minson helped launch the Essential series in Australia.

THE ESSENTIALS OF A GOOD GUITAR: SOUND and PLAYABILITY

The Essential Pro Series combines exceptional sound and playability with a refreshingly simple design. Our guitarist customers tell us that they look amazing with their simple elegance and sound huge for a small body guitar. We always believed that the smaller body models in the HOHNER Essential guitars would be popular, especially with women and younger folk, it turns out that they are widely popular with big burly blokes too.

CUTTING EDGE DESIGN

Modern guitar design, construction and production are a challenging mixture between CAD design, industrial production processes and traditional hand-made craftsmanship.

The HOHNER Essential Pro Series guitars were designed in Germany and the USA and are produced in HOHNER’s most experienced acoustic guitar factory in Northern China under strict humidity-control. This makes the HOHNER Essential Pro Series guitars durable and robust in the dryer climate zones found in the Australia, USA and Europe.

Bolt-on neck joints, utilised by Taylor Guitars, are also included on all HOHNER Essential Pro Series guitars. They guarantee consistent neck angles and enhanced sustain as well as allowing neck resets should that become necessary after years of use.

SIMPLE ELEGANCE – EXCEPTIONAL TONE and PLAYABILITY

All HOHNER Essential Pro Series feature solid top made from Canadian Sitka Spruce for crisp tone and strong projection along with carefully selected mahogany for the back and sides with a micro-thin, open-pore satin finish. The Essential Pro steel string acoustics are equipped with NVI compensated nuts and saddles.

They play in tune and produce a sound outperforming guitars many times their price. Add our PRO-SCM setup and you have a guitar that you will simply want to play and play . . . a real keeper.

We mentioned our PRO-SCM setup…this is a great instrument but the added attention of the PRO-SCM setup it is exceptional. Our Technician Hand rolls the fret ends, removing any sharp edges and burrs. The frets are then hand polished to a mirror finish. The neck, saddle and nut are adjusted as required, the fingerboard oiled and tuners tightened…you may buy cheaper but you will not buy better than this – anywhere.
