Michael Kelly Prelude Port OM Acoustic Guitar

The Michael Kelly Prelude Port OM acoustic guitar offers players tone normally associated with much more expensive guitars. With the addition of our Pro-SCM professional setup, you have an acoustic guitar that you simply won’t want to put down.

With the classic combination of a specially braced solid Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, this guitar really delivers on sound. The tone of the the Prelude Port OM is focused and articulate with a rich bottom end presence. The vintage OM body shape is slightly smaller in size which makes the instrument comfortable to hold. Michael Kelly’s Port Technology, with its offset soundhole enhances projection to both the player and their audience.

The Prelude Port OM includes a unique side sound port feature. This hole – on the upper bout of the guitar, directs the sound of the guitar in your direction, acting like a personal monitor. The front sound hole is mounted off centre allowing the sound of the guitar to eminate freely to your audience.

Another important upgrade is the pinless Zero Pin bridge. This design allows you to change the strings quickly and without fumbling with those annoying plastic end-pins found on other acoustic guitars. Get your hands on a Prelude Port OM to enjoy the tone, comfort, and player-centric upgrades.

Pinless Bridge

It always happens at the worst possible time — you break a string at a gig. What if you could radically shorten the time it takes to change your string? The Michael Kelly Zero Pin “pinless” Bridge makes that possible.

Michael Kelly’s innovative bridge design allows players to change a string without tools and without the stress of losing or breaking pins. Simply slide the new string into the specially-designed groove and string changing just became quick and easy.

Innovative Port Technology

Acoustic guitar design has not changed significantly since the pre-World War II era. For several years now, the Michael Kelly team has been working on a fresh new approach to acoustic guitars. This has culminated with the development of the new Port Technology. At the core of this innovation is an offset soundhole approach coupled with an all new bracing design. Traditional soundhole placement interrupts a potentially potent “soundboard” area located between the neck and the bridge. By relocating the soundhole, Michael Kelly was able to bring this area to life, providing a louder and more resonate overall top performance. This performance enhancement is especially evident on models with integrated electronics where the added resonance collaborates with the bridge mounted piezo for undeniably better results.

Pro-SCM Professional Setup

The materials used and build quality are way above what is expected for an instrument at this price.
As with almost every brand name guitar – and we include the biggest brands in this – they are setup to a tolerance deemed acceptable by the manufacturer. Newbies almost always don’t know the difference and experienced players should know better.

The truth is that most guitar manufacturers don’t invest much effort into the final setup process. A professional setup involves precision – precision requires time and, time is money. Almost all manufacturers are focused on the bottom line and must produce many guitars per day.

When you buy a guitar from southcoastmusic that includes a Pro-SCM setup, you buy confidently knowing that an experienced technician has not only “checked” your guitar, they have adjusted and set it up to play at its best. Of course, if you have a particular requirement, we can set you guitar up accordingly. You can even purchase your preferred string brand/gauge and your guitar will be set up to suit.

Ultimately, its your call. We know that you can buy cheaper however, we sincerely believe that you won’t buy better.
