Epiphone celebrates the 50th anniversary of the British Invasion with the return of one of its most iconic and original designs, the G-1275 Double Neck 6-string and 12-string Electric Guitar.
With the Limited Edition G1275 Doubleneck electric guitar, Epiphone have once again made one of rock’s most iconic instruments available to the world at a price that is within reach.
The G-1275 is based on the original EDS1235 Double Neck that was first produced at the legendary Gibson/Epiphone Kalamazoo, Michigan factory in 1963. Only ever produced in small numbers, the 1275 quickly became one of the most sought-after and original guitars in rock. Embraced by British rockers like Pete Townshend of the Who, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and John McLaughlin the 1275 was also used by Elvis Presley, bluesman Earl Hooker and the Eagles’ Don Felder.
When Epiphone first reintroduced the Doubleneck G-1275, it became an instant hit with acts such as US Rock Band, the Flaming Lips. Now, it’s back again as a limited edition with that one-of-a-kind vibe and sound . . . and at an affordable price!
THE SG STORY
The SG Solid Guitar body style on which the G-1275 Doubleneck is based was first introduced in 1961 as a replacement for the Les Paul Standard which went briefly out of production in the early ’60s. The SG was called the “fretless wonder” for its low frets and fast action and the twin horn cutaway design was like nothing on the market.
Its light but balanced weight made it the perfect guitar for stage and studio work and even in the form of the G-1275 Doubleneck, that balance and easy playability shines through.
A ROCK ICON
Epiphone’s Limited Edition G-1275 features a select mahogany body with a Alpine White finish. Both the 12-string and 6-string necks have been crafted from mahogany and share the classic 1960s SlimTaperTM profile, a 12″ radius and a 25.75″ scale length.
Rosewood fingerboards with single layer ivory binding, medium jumbo frets, and pearloid parallelogram block inlays are featured on both necks. The 12-string features a 1.85″ nut width while the 6-string is cut to the standard 1.68″. Machine heads are period-correct Kluson styled Deluxe Tulip Button tuners with a modern 18:1 ratio.
HIGH FLYING SOUND
The Limited Edition G1275 looks absolutely amazing but it’s not a show pony, it’s tone and playability are simply extraordinary. The 12-string half of the G-1275 features an Alnico Classic humbucker in the neck position and an Alnico Classic Plus humbucker in the bridge position.
The 6-string body is powered by an open coil Alnico Classic humbucker in the neck and an open coil Alnico Classic Plus humbucker at the bridge. Both pickups are controlled by full function Black Speed Knobs for volume and tone that are powered by full-size 500K potentiometers.
EPIPHONE HARDWARE YOU CAN RELY ON FROM STAGE TO STUDIO
Epiphone have faithfully recreated the one-of-a-kind hardware and pickguard that make the Limited Edition G-1275 one of the most easily recognised guitars on the planet.
The 6-string and 12-string each have their own Epiphone all-metal 3-way toggle switch for pickup selection. There is also a second master all-metal 3-way toggle switch located between the 6-string and 12-string bridge. From here, players can choose the 12-string (up), the 6-string (down) or both (middle) for unlimited tonal combinations.
The G-1275 Custom features Epiphone’s proprietry LockTone bridge and special ABS style Claw tailpieces which yield incredible sustain. The period correct all Gold Plated hardware also includes Epiphone’s heavy duty ¼” output jack.
