KISS have stood the test of time and are one of of the biggest acts in the history of Rock n’ Roll…and they’re still doing it. Following their meteoric rise to the top of the charts during the 70’s, the band’s frontman, Paul Stanley, was approached by Ibanez to collaborate on a signature guitar that would become the iconic instrument he would forever be associated with.
When Paul and the designers at Ibanez sat down to create his signature guitar in 1977 the idea was to create a totally unique design. Fate however played its part and while perusing the Ibanez catalog, one model in particular caught Paul Stanley’s eye, the Artist 2663. With Paul Stanley’s input, this guitar was to become known as the “Iceman”.
Ironically, the Artist was less than popular at the time, but Stanley’s intrigue by its asymmetrical shape and unusual body style led to the template for his signature instrument. Now, for the first time since 1996, Paul and Ibanez have reunited to introduce three exciting new Paul Stanley signature models…this is the PS120L – Left Hand version.
The PS120L features the classic combination of a Mahogany body with a Maple top for a full, balanced tone. The three piece Mahogany PS profile set-in neck features a bound Ebony fingerboard for long sustain and clear articulation.
Electronics are Top Shelf and include a Seymour Duncan ’59 model neck pickup and a Custom 5 at the bridge for a full range of tones to take you right through the Kiss catalogue and beyond. An Ibanez Full Tune III Bridge and Quick Change III Tailpiece have been selected for optimal string transfer and precise intonation. Finished in a High Gloss Black with stunning block fingerboard inlays, body binding and chrome hardware, the Ibanez Paul Stanley PS120 is both an iconic guitar and a true work of art.
While we are Art lovers, we are also musicians and our Guitar Techs, are Guitar nuts . . . and they will set this guitar up to play like a knife through butter. Neck angle, action, intonation, fret dress and crown, condition the fretboard…it will be done…that is the southcoastmusic difference.
