Lets slip back to 1958 when Gibson absolutely rocked the guitar world with the unveiling of its thinline, semi-acoustic ES-335. The guitar was a stroke of genius and an overnight success. The ES335 “Dot” remains a firm favourite but for many players the most iconic ES-335 appeared in 1963 with the first artist inspired update when the “335” became the definitive rock, blues and jazz classic.
Just mention “Clapton-spec ES-335” to any Cream fan, or check out the guitars played by Alvin Lee, Larry Carlton or a myriad other legendary artists and you’ll find an early to mid ’60s “block neck” ES-335 logging all those classic tones on stage and in the studio.
This limited run model is one of a handful of pieces handcrafted in the Memphis Gibson Custom Shop to nonor this iconic model. It is also the only example for sale in Australia. Once sold, it cannot be replaced.
