The CAD D12 is a moving-coil dynamic microphone with a cardioid polar pattern.

Its frequency response is contoured for kick drums and other bass instruments.

The CAD D12 is an excellent microphone for applications where low frequencies with high SPLs need to be amplifier. The D12 follows the common “scooped mids” model for tailored dynamics: an 11dB boost around 80–100Hz, a 5dB scoop at 450Hz and a broad boost from 1kHz to ~15kHz where the response falls dramatically as expected from this type of microphone.

The CAD D12 features a neodymium magnet which increases the amount of available gain before feedback making it suitable for a wide range of situations.

The cardioid polar pattern minimises noise and off-axis feedback. The CAD D12 is also well suited for floor toms, congas and large percussion instruments.

The D12 also features an rugged, integrated swivel mount.
