Book and CD

A Sackful of Songs is a delightful collection of Playsongs for little ones aged 0-5 by Jane Newberry. Inside this sack of treats there are chants, songs and rhymes to help inspire and invigorate children and toddlers with music and movement!

This is an exciting and valuable resource for reception and nursery teachers and musical parents. Mimicking the sound of monsters, fire engines, farm animals and dinosaurs will start toddlers on the road to singing the assemblies, classrooms at home or even in the car.

Full of fun songs, role play, actions, movement and lullabies there is plenty in this wonderful collection to keep even the liveliest children occupied! Beautifully presented, there are colour illustrations by the author on every page to inspire the imagination and numerous educational concepts are subtly wrapped up in the fun.

A Sackful of Songs is set for Voice and Easy Piano, with full lyrics and actions for the songs. The foreword is full of useful advice and information and, with a CD of accompaniments and demonstration tracks enclosed, your first session is sure to be a success!
A Sackful of Songs is an entirely new collection of twenty-six nursery songs.

Jane Newberry, Early Years Music teacher from Surrey started composing the songs seven years ago and has tested them thoroughly in her mother and toddler music groups and in Nurseries in Suffolk, Northampton and Surrey with a very favourable response from parents, teachers and children.

The book is scored for piano, with basic harmonies to suit non-specialists and rusty pianists. Each song has a full colour illustration which appeals to parents and helps very little children to understand what the songs are about. Helpful hints for teachers and parents accompany the illustrations.

The songs all have a “playing” aspect allowing children to use toys, percussion instruments and whole body movements to learn the basics of pulse, rhythm, pitch and dynamics. Above all the tunes are really catchy and fun.

The book comes with a CD with crisp, clear diction from vocalist Penny Martin, so teachers with no keyboard skills can easily learn the tunes.
