While the ’59 Resonator looks similar to the Danelectro 1959 model with it’s double-cut shorthorn shaped hollow body, it is a completely different beast altogether offering guitarists a range of unique and versatile guitar tones.
As well as it’s retro charm, the ’59 Reso features a spun aluminium cone biscuit resonator covered by a chrome perforated diamond plate cover along with a polished aluminium nut and vintage-style tuners.
The 25-inch scale length, 21 fret clear satin finished Maple neck with Pau Ferro fingerboard also provides great playability and feel. The slim neck profile combined with its easy playing string tension makes the ’59 a joy to play.
Although the ’59 Reso is a hollowbody guitar, it really shines when plugged in and amplified. A Danelectro ’56 lipstick pickup is in the neck position along with a “special design” Schatten piezo pickup mounted inside the resonator cone. The guitar has three oversized knobs for volume and tone, as well as a blend control for either the lipstick and piezo pickups. The blend knob features a centre detent for a 50/50 mix of the two.
You should dig the ’59 Resonator’s spot-on setup and easy playability thanks to our Pro-SCM setup. The action is set at a comfortable height to seamlessly switch between playing slide and fingerpicking and the polished fretwork with hand rolled ends feels amazing.
