Yamaha have been hand crafting their guitars for more than 60 years. Yamaha have never been one for doing things by halves and when they decided that to enter the guitar market, they called upon legendary Spanish Master luthiers Manuel Hernandez and Eduardo Ferrer to provide technical instruction for crafting impeccable classical guitars.

Both had studied under Antonio de Torres, the most celebrated Spanish guitar maker of the 19th century. This collaboration laid the firm foundation for the creation of many of the world’s finest classical guitars at prices that were previously unheard of.  However, the most important contribution that Yamaha made to the world of guitar cannot be overstated – for the first time, even beginners had access to a hand crafted, real musical instrument that was built to a standard – not just a price. The rest is history.

Embrace that spirit and discover your own inspiration.

Today, Yamaha continues to uphold this spirit and tradition with the current CG range. The CG182S has been revamped and features a new bracing pattern for greater response and resonance. The redesigned bridge plate also efficiently transfers string vibration to the guitar top.

Yamaha’s saddle-and-slot design is crafted with great precision for an accurate fit. This reduces string vibration loss and improves attack and sustain. For a “factory-made” guitar, the CG182S is built with a level of expertise and craftsmanship elevating this guitar to the higher end of similarly priced guitars and far above the cheap and ordinary.

The CG182S is spoken of highly for its volume and projection. Its hand cut and inlaid mosaic-design rosette, gloss finish, gold hardware and mother-of-pearl peg tuners lend it a quiet and classy exterior. The neck features a smooth satin finish and has been made slightly thinner and lighter to enhance playability. This is a superb guitar built for the budding guitarist who is gaining confidence in their repertoire.

Featuring a Solid European Englemann Spruce Top and Rosewood back and sides – this guitar has been created to inspire.

The Yamaha CG182S represents great value for money however, as with almost every “brand name” musical instrument, it doesn’t include a final “setup”. Setups involve precision and precision is time. Our price includes a Pro-SCM setup that we promise will take this instrument to its full potential.

AS a paid service – and we are booked out weeks ahead – this Pro-SCM setup can cost $200 or more and it includes the following;

– Your instrument will undergo an “as many points as required” check over to ensure that there are no manufacturing faults
– The “action” or, playing height will be adjusted (please let us know your preferred string height)
– This can include, levelling, dressing and recrowning the frets as required
– Handrolling the fret ends to remove any sharp edges and polishing the frets so that they are slinky smooth
– Treating the fretboard
– Cutting the nut slots to ensure an easy playing action

In our vast experience, nothing comes out of the box having undergone this treatment. Can you buy this cheaper elsewhere? Yes, possibly. Can you buy better elsewhere? Nowhere, on the planet – that we are currently aware of.
