Some people are surprised to learn that Vox have been making guitars and basses since 1962. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find that as well as their iconic amplifiers, Vox guitars and basses also played their part in the “British Invasion” of the early ’60s.
The Rolling Stones’ Bassist, Bill Wyman is the most well known exponent of the Vox Teardrop Bass. He even had his own signature model and it saw duty on stage, in the studio and even on the Stones’ 1966 Australian tour.
Now VOX beckons in a new age of the Teardrop Electric Bass Guitar with the the flame-topped VBW-3500 semi-hollow short-scale Bass. With all the vintage charm and timeless style of the classic 1960’s teardrop design, the VBW3500 has been revitalised for the modern player, while remaining true to the original iconic design. We’re also convinced that “VBW” is an abbreviation of “VOX Bill Wyman” . . . just sayin’.
VOX VBW-3500 Short Scale – Massive Versatility
The VBW3500 features a 770mm short-scale multi-ply neck. Consisting of three layers of Maple and two of Walnut topped with a Rosewood fingerboard, the VBW3500 neck offers a slim yet firm feel. The short-scale neck and our Pro-SCM setup ensures maximum playability for bassists of all abilities. The 770mm scale length is perfect for guitar players wanting to play bass on stage or in the studio.

The VBW-3000/3500 basses are the latest generation of the iconic VOX “Teardrop”- style bass guitars. Hand crafted with high quality components and premium build quality, they deliver on all accounts. The original version of these basses were an integral part of the British music scene in the late 1960’s and today are held in high esteem by many musicians and collectors alike. Hand crafted in Japan, this VBW-3500 is one of a very limited production run. We believe that it is the only one imported into Australia by the local VOX distributor.
