The latest in the renowned PIA series of Steve Vai Signature Electric Guitars, this stunning ONYX Black and Gold finished model was first announced for release in 2021. It has almost taken a year but the very first shipment of these exclusive guitars has now arrived and it was definitely worth the wait.
The next step in the EVOlution of Steve Vai’s signature guitar series and personality – this is the highly desirable Onyx Black model.
Designed in close collaboration between Ibanez and Steve Vai, the PIA3761 is a prestigious top shelf, sonically versatile, high-performance solidbody electric guitar, irredeemably confirmed by the pedigree of his lifetime of works as one of the greatest guitar players of all time and, dedicated in part to his wife.
At the core of this superb instrument is a premium Alder body. Alder is the proven tonal basis for some of the most enduring pieces of music of the past 70 years. Super-fast playability is at your fingertips courtesy of a 5-piece neck with an updated “PIA” profile and Ibanez’s Prestige fret end treatment.
A matched pair of DiMarzio UtoPIA pickups deliver maximum impact, power and sonic versatility. A classic Edge tremolo sits comfortably under the palm and can handle the wildest vibrato effects and squeals with ease and aplomb.
As with all of his signature models, this beautiful guitar boasts Steve Vai’s trademark appointments. The PIA3761 features the “Petal Grip” exclusively for this series, adding a balanced and contemporary aeshetic – and symbolising unity, companionship and interpersonal bonds. The “tree of life” has been modified into the elegant and eye-catching “PIA Blossom” fingerboard inlay.
This guitar also sees the introduction of a new magnetic tremolo cavity plate for quick access to the tremolo claw and spring tension adjustment, or any other device that may be placed in the rear control cavity (Tremsetter, Tremol-No etc.)
