By switching both preamplifier and power amplifier parameters the Series One 45W delivers both Class A style tones with a bell-like ring and classic push-pull crunch depending on the mode selected. The patented ISF control removes the limitations of traditional designs allowing you to tune the tone to exactly the sound you are looking for. DPR can reduce the power down to 4.5W and MIDI switching and a series effects loop make this the ultimate pro’s combo.
Series One 45 Features
Valves: 1 x ECC82, 3 x ECC83, @ x EL34
The Series One 45 is an innovate combo that features 2xEL34 valves that combine with its Celestion Vintage 30 speakers to create awesome tone. By switching both preamplifier and power amplifier parameters the Series One 45 delivers both Class A style tones with a bell-like ring and classic push-pull crunch depending on the mode selected.
ISF Control – Everything from USA to UK
The patented ISF control works with the Bass, Middle and Treble controls to give you access to infinite new sound possibilities from the USA to the UK and everywhere in-between. This fully interactive control allows you to infinitely adjust the response of the tone control network between any of the traditional voicings. In this way you can design your own sound and truly find the sound in your head.
1. ISF is a passive circuit giving a musical response that is not found in active parametric or ‘contour’ controls.
2. The whole tone stack response (i.e. Bass, Middle and Treble) is moved.
3. The tone controls remain fully interactive, just like in a regular tone stack.
4. The ISF control is continuously variable between all the traditional responses allowing you to effectively design your own sound.
DPR (Dynamic Power Reduction) Control – Reduce the power, not the damping
It is well known that valve amplifiers sound best when they are turned up loud. This is because at higher volume levels the output valves introduce musical distortion and compression which are a vital part of the valve amplifier experience. Blackstar’s patented DPR feature controls the output power level by dynamically adjusting the output stage voltages, allowing power valve distortion and compression at any volume level.
Benefits of the DPR control:
1. DPR allows continuously variable power reduction, down to 10%, so you can use your valve amp in any playing situation.
2. DPR is a ‘dynamic’ circuit, delivering the exact compression (a.k.a. sag) of a small overdriven valve amp, at any volume level.
3. Unlike power attenuators, DPR places nothing between the output of the amplifier and the loudspeaker and hence as the power is reduced the feel, tone and reliability of the amplifier is maintained.
MIDI Switching – Control channel selection
The Series One offers the ability to control channel selection via MIDI Program Change messages and interfacing with most MIDI controllers is a straight forward process. The Series One can be placed in a MIDI chain allowing you to simultaneously select a channel on the amplifier and change the patch on a MIDI effects processor connected to the effects loop. There are 128 available Program Changes, giving you the possibility to access a vast number of tonal combinations.
Speaker Emulated Output – State-of-the-art speaker emulator
All Series One amplifiers have a state-of-the-art speaker emulator with balanced and unbalanced outputs via XLR and standard jack connectors respectively. The Blackstar speaker emulator is a complex multi-stage filter which takes the preamplifier signal and then introduces the important characteristics of a valve power amp, guitar loudspeaker and cabinet.
Solid Construction – High quality PCB, Cabinet and Chassis
All Series One amplifiers have plated through double sided PCBs for the increased mechanical integrity this construction affords. Designed to last a lifetime, Series One cabinets have a 18mm finger-jointed birch ply cabinet and heavy gauge wiring. The chassis, for mechanical integrity, are seam welded 1.6mm steel.

Series Effects Loop – Connect effects pedals
The amp features an effects loop to allow you to connect effects pedals or other professional equipment using the return and send connections. The Effects Loop Level switch sets the effects loop to either +4dBV/-10dBV, which enables you to use it with either professional equipment (+4dBV setting), or with guitar level effects such as effects pedals (-10dBV setting).
